Individual potential and solution strategies

Our coaching sessions focus on individual professional and personal development. The starting point is for coachees to formulate their needs. The coaching goes on to support them through the use of stimulating questions to thereby develop individual, behaviourally-oriented potentials and strategies. At the same time, the coaching strengthens the coachee’s self-responsibility and self-reliance.

Our Coaching sessions

Our coaching sessions focus on individual professional and personal development. The starting point is for coachees to formulate their needs. The coaching goes on to support them through the use of stimulating questions to thereby develop individual, behaviourally-oriented potentials and strategies. At the same time, the coaching strengthens the coachee’s self-responsibility, awareness of strengths and self-respect

The duration of our coaching processes, which is at least six months long, is based on findings from brain research on our possibilities for change over time: lasting changes succeed through the development of new habits. To create a new habit, the human brain needs at least six months.

In the first coaching session coachee and coach jointly work out a roadmap for the desired change process. On this roadmap, goals, milestones and success factors are defined and arranged in chronological order. The road map serves as an orientation and creates a binding relationship between coachee and coach. The roadmap ends in a written coaching agreement, signed by coachee, supervisor and coach, to ensure the transparency of the objectives.

As a rule, the human body, mind and soul are pretty tough. They tolerate ill treatment for quite a while – sometimes even several years. And they send signals. They show (early!) warning signs to indicate: It’s all too much! You are overwhelmed! Nobody can manage everything like that at once! It doesn’t make any sense!

And this is where our time-out coaching sessions take place. They create awareness for meaning by directing the coachee’s attention away from “impossibilities” towards possibilities, from problems to solutions and from questions to answers: where are your limits? What is really important to you? What are you afraid of? What slows you down? How can you pick up the thread of your life again? How does powerlessness become power again? How will you shape your (working) life?

We approach the possibilities, solutions and answers in four steps:

  • Perceiving your own needs/boundaries
  • Communicating needs – setting boundaries
  • Perceiving other people’s boundaries
  • Identifying opportunities – accepting boundaries – and letting go

The primary goal of our time-out coaching sessions is to strengthen the self-activating forces of our coachees and to help them to shape their work situation confidently and actively. To this end, it is necessary to recognise “stalling” behavioural patterns, as well as hidden gaps, to formulate changes in concrete terms, and to initiate change bit by bit through perceiving and creating structures and framework conditions.

Time-out coaching takes place within the expert network in collaboration with Dr. med. Claudia Potratz, specialist in urology, andrology and drug therapy as well as burn-out ambulance and Andrea Potratz, specialist for training and health management and managing director of toMotion GmbH.

Through the expert network, we are able to holistically address the areas of medical health check, business and mental coaching, stress and self-management, nutrition, exercise, individual perception and training programmes, from the point of view of the individual needs of our coachees. The aim is to improve quality of life as well as to stabilise and/or increase personal mental and physical performance.

In almost every (professional) life, moments arise where you have to say: back to start, press the reset button, exit – forward into the future! A deep need for professional and often private reorientation develops until it can no longer be ignored. Over the years, despite high commitment, many people admit that they often yearn to develop something new and different, despite being passionate about their chosen profession.

The subject of professional reorientation, perhaps even a fresh start, is an existential theme. It leads to contemplation of one’s own achievements.

  • What are my successes?
  • What makes me who I am?
  • What motivates and stimulates me?
  • How much have I lived according to my talents and interests until now?
  • What do I really want – and what future is there in that?

Our reset coaching focuses forwards. It aims to gain new clarity for oneself and one’s (professional) future. Exercises, playful approaches and creativity techniques promote and support one’s own reflection and open the mind to a new way of thinking. All of a sudden, there are possibilities that either make the old job appear in a whole new light or actually lead to a leave-it strategy. Sometimes it is the “simple” little adjustments, other times a genuine turnaround that brings the solution. In any case, the reorientation first arises in your gut, in your head and in your heart – long before it can be put into practice. So, reset coaching requires patience. What has led to inner dissatisfaction with one’s own professional activities for years needs to experienced thoroughly, thought through and planned.

The intensive coaching sessions support coachees in “emergencies” (and their superiors) who need urgent and rapid change in their leadership skills. This includes aspects of self-management and employee leadership, as well as looking at the question: “How” do I “manage” my supervisor? (e.g. positioning, leadership, expectations, needs, limits). With a type of “acute program”, the coachee is given the opportunity to focus on upcoming changes and their implementation by “dropping out” of daily work routine for three or four weeks. We recommend “dropping out” in order to ensure that the coachee can focus concentration on him or herself and his or her change – without experiencing the coaching processes as additional stress.

As in the case of change processes, we orient the time frame of intensive coaching to the possibilities of our brain to make changes. The duration of the intensive coaching sessions on brain cycles is oriented towards the formation of new habits

a) at least three weeks of intensive processing time
b) six-monthly cycle, see above.

In intensive coaching, at key points, supervisors are consciously involved in the coaching process.

Do you find it difficult to speak freely and convincingly? Is your voice quiet, does it quaver or sometimes even falter altogether? Do you want to be self-assured and to anchor your content in the minds of your listeners with conciseness and charm?

In the coaching session you will learn about the eye of the camera from the “outside”. You will experience your language and body language – recognise your strengths and weaknesses. You define your potential and work actively with the help of strategies, practice-oriented tips and tools.

You structure the content and provide orientation not only for yourself, but also for your “audience”. You combine information with emotions and test and discuss its effect. You document and check your change process by constant comparison with your goals.

The main points are:

  • Stance, gesture, facial expressions
  • Expression and intonation
  • Selection of contents
  • Development of the core idea
  • Anchoring contents
  • Handling questions

Do you want to achieve your goals better? Without being an authoritarian or “stepping on your colleagues’ toes”? Would you like to achieve acceptance for yourself and your ideas? Do you want to produce viable results?

Through targeted questioning technique and intensive dialogue, you will be given the opportunity of rethinking professional conversational situations, to expose existing patterns of thinking and behaviour and solutions to your problems. After the actual analysis (adjustment of self-image and external image), you formulate your desired target state. You elaborate hypothetical approaches to solving problems, try out communication models and conversational and facilitation techniques in everyday life. You reflect on the results – both successes and failures – in coaching. You document and comment on your continuous change.

The main points are:

  • The factual, relationship, and system levels
  • Four aspects of a message
  • Johari windows
  • Active listening
  • Questioning techniques
  • Balance between goal orientation and partnership
  • Consensus model
